Five Things MeMe!

I was tagged by Danielle for my first ever meme.

Five things I was doing 10 years ago:

1. I had a 4year old, a 2 1/2 year old, and a 2 month old.
I knew I had just given birth to my last child.

2. My husband and I were house hunting for our first home.

3. I had not discovered the flat iron, so I kept my hair very short.

4. We had just celebrated our 4th Wedding Anniversary.

5. I was preparing myself to send my first baby off to pre-school
(now I'm preparing to send him to high school!)

Five of my favorite snack foods:

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

2. Chocolate

3. French bread w/ olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip it in.

4. Chocolate :)

5. Chips and guacamole (homemade)

Five Songs I know all the lyrics to:

1. Blessed by Elton John (it has kind of become my adoption song)

2. I am totally pathetic, but I know alot of songs but not all the
lyrics to any of them.

3. The National Anthem (I am so desperate I copied Danielle :)

4. Do nursery rhymes count?

Five things I would do with a million dollars:

1. Set up a scholarship in my brother's memory.

2. Buy a vacation home.

3. Travel with my family to Australia, Greece and Africa
(my boys would love a safari adventure.)

4. Donate

5. Open up my own little boutique.

Five bad habits:

1. My boys would say recently it is blogging.

2. No self-control when it comes to Chocolate.

3. Not drinking enough water (Lori I had to copy this one from you,
my husband is on me all the time to drink more water!)

4. I always leave the car on empty so my husband will have to put
gas in, I hate pumping gas!

5. Collecting shoes:) I personally don't think it's a bad habit,
but my family thinks I go a little overboard :)

Five things I like to do:

1. Craft - I used to be a big scrapbooker, but now those are all
way behind. Lately, I enjoy making cards, paper cones,
decorations for holidays.

2. Read - Right now I love reading anything related to China culture and history.

3. Shop

4. Get a pedicure

5. Shop

Five things I will never wear again:

1. Feathered hair

2. Plastic shoes (remember Jellies?)

3. Headbands (Olivia Newton-John "Physical")

4. Anything rainbow

5. Hair scrunchies

I tag Jennifer, Joanne, and Marina.

~Summer Book~

I have been wanting to read the book Snowflower and the Secret Fan, but I decided to start with the authors prior book Peony in love. A friend of mine has two Chinese daughters and she gave me the idea of buying the books in hardcover, and starting a collection for our daughter of books that reflect Chinese culture and history. I loved that idea, and so has begun my collection.
~Another book suggestion is Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress.

~A Prayer for Gloria~

This little girl has been in our local newspaper for the past few weeks. Her family is friends with a friend of mine. She is battling an aggressive form of cancer, while her family prays for a miracle. Please pray for Gloria and her family.

~A Sweet Gift~

Today a sweet friend gave this Piggy Bank to me as a gift for our future daughter. I love pink and brown!! She has 2 daughters from China and their family is returning this fall to adopt a 10 year old boy. She is such a special friend and my biggest encourager on this journey. We are not even DTC yet, but have been working tirelessly on our online classes so we can get our final homestudy visit done, so this gift was her way of celebrating what we have accomplished so far. Thank you so much "T".

Catch Up!

I thought I would just do a little catch up since I haven't posted in a little while.

* Monday Toby and I celebrated our 14th Anniversary. We had a great dinner and saw a french film. It was nice not to have to see Spiderman3, Fantastic 4, Transformers, you get the idea :)

* Tuesday and Wednesday were scorchers here in Seattle. It was 95 on Tues and 102 on Wed. We are not known for HOT weather. Summers here are usually great, Mid 70's to 80's. When the sun is shining you take advantage of it. We have great weather usually through September.

* Enjoying a relaxing summer. So far this week, only my oldest has been going to basketball summer camp (for High School YIKES). It has been nice break not having 3 boys to take to different events.

* Today it feel like I live in the South (which I LOVE by the way!!) We woke up to thundershowers and humidity. Now I don't have to water this morning before it gets too hot :)

So, there is our week in a nutshell!

Happy Birthday Jeff!

I lost my brother 5 years ago in March, and on June 30th we celebrated what would have been his 37th birthday. My mom and stepdad came over for dinner and birthday cake, and we always let balloons go in Jeff's memory. We sent up a special balloon from my niece, Makenna Riley, who is 5 years old and never got to meet her daddy. Happy Birthday Jeffrey! We know you are looking down on us and saw our balloons.

Happy 4th of July!

~Special Friends~

Debbie and Jeni came to Seattle for a visit. I started babysitting for Debbie when I was eleven years old, and Jeni was only 2 months old. The last time I saw Jeni she was 9!! It was so fun to catch up with both of them!
