Celebration Lane

We took Lucy to "Celebration Lane"....outside the mall during the Holidays drummers perform everynight.  Lucy loved all the music and sang along!  One of the drummers walked over to her and handed her his drumsticks so she could beat on his drum...she loved it!

~Christmas Memories 2008~

Christmas morning the boys got up first, and we let Lucy sleep.  The boys opened their stockings and gifts from Santa.  For Blake and Bennett, a new TV for their bedroom, and for Powell it was JumpSoles.  Lucy was still sleeping so they went ahead and opened the rest of their gifts.  For Powell it was clothes, a new phone, workout items.  Blake got his first cell phone (FINALLY), college sweatshirts and other goodies.  Bennett was excited for his air soft gun and slot car racing set.

Lucy made her grand entrance and couldn't believe Santa left her a Kitchen just like she had asked!  She loved her new Baby Doll too!  It was so fun to experience the magic of Christmas morning with her for the first time!

This year for Christmas Eve, after attending Christmas Eve Service, we headed over to Aunt Deanna's for a delicious dinner, a FUN gift exchange, and gingerbread houses.

Yes Lucy...there is a Santa Claus~

Lucy held up her arms for Santa to lift her into his lap...she touched his beard, and laid her head on his chest...such a priceless moment~

We had so much snow this year that we didn't make it downtown to see our traditional Nordstrom Santa...instead we went to the mall (not the background I love, but it will have to do this year)...Lucy and the boys were so patient waiting the "2+hours" in line, they found things to occupy their time :)

Lucy had a little Christmas party tonight at her Pre-school. She was so excited to show her brothers her school. There were lots of crafts, cookie decorating, hot chocolate, her teacher read "Twas the night before Christmas"....and SANTA CLAUS!

Lucy was a little unsure of Santa at first, but was fine once her brothers stood by him too.  It helped that today at the mall we happened to walk by just as Santa was taking a break, and he walked over to Lucy and she was able to give him a "high 5".  Hopefully all will go well when we see Santa this weekend for our real picture!

~Lucy goes to Pre-School~

IMG_2539_edited

Today Lucy started preschool. She will attend two days a week for 2 and a half hours...while there she will receive her occupational and physical therapies. She was so excited to put on her princess backpack and go to "her school"...I on the other hand was not ready to turn her over to anyone else so soon. It has been 7 years since I took my last "baby" to preschool, so it all seemed brand new...not to mention the fact that I hate having Lucy out of my care. I have been the one meeting all of her needs the last 4 months, and we have not left her with anyone during this time. I know how important the attatchment and bonding period is, but I also know Lucy is 4 years old and wants to play and learn...plus it is so important to begin her therapies. I will admit, I did stay almost the whole time today :), and left her just at the end while they played in the gym. She did great and was so happy to see Bennett and I at the end.

On November 29th Lucy has been with our family 4 months...it seems like she has always been with us. We adore her and cannot imagine life without her. I would say she is basically fluent in English. She understands absolutely everything we say to her, and she is speaking to us in 4 to 6 word sentences...it is so amazing to "watch" her language develop.

(Because this blog is our family scrapbook, I want to record some of the things Lucy does and is saying)

~Thank you, Please, look how cute, pizza in panzone, just a minute, Mommy, more pizza please, I can feed the baby, Mommy look at me, Lucy Joy (last name), Mommy sit down, I go to my school, I help Mama, I help Baba wash...just to name a few

~Lucy's favorite things to do: help Mommy cook, help Baba do laundry, pick up the boys from basketball practice so she can play on the court, take a shower (she loves her bath, but just discovered the shower :), she loves getting new clothes and shoes (that's my girl :)
