Chinese New Year Celebration

IMG_2912IMG_2908IMG_2933My creation
We had a great time celebrating Chinese New Year with our new Chinese group.  During dinner we were treated to the Dragon Dance which was performed earlier in the day in Chinatown.  What a great way to celebrate our first with Lucy!

**I had my jacket tailored made while in China.  I would HIGHLY recommend doing this if you ever go back.  Our guide took us to a HUGE fabric mart, I met with a tailor, told her what I wanted, she told me how much fabric to buy...our guide takes me to buy the fabric (sooo many beautiful choices), we bring the fabric back to the tailor, and my jacket was delivered to our hotel in Guangzhou 24 hours later....for a total of $50 and a perfect fit!!

XIN NIAN KUAI LE~Happy Chinese New Year!

Lucy dressed up for school today.  She took fortune cookies to all her friends, and her book about Chinese New Year.  We will celebrate with our Chinese group and family this coming Saturday with dinner and the Dragon Dance!
My creation
~I made a "Gung hay fat choy" banner and hung it up, and I kept saying it to Lucy, and she just kept looking at me like she had NO idea what I was saying....SO I finally figured out that "Gung hay fat choy" is Cantonese, and Lucy knows Mandarin.  Once I figured out how to pronounce "Xin Nian Kuai Le" she smiled and grabbed her cup of tea for "Gambe" (cheers)! ...yes, Lucy LOVES green tea and drinks it almost everyday!

My creation
Lately, everywhere we have gone that has a train set up, Lucy is in heaven...so today we pulled out our train that the boys used to play with and set it up for Lucy....she has had so much fun making big trains, small trains, and going around and around the track!

Catching up!

I have updated our blog...so scroll down to see how we finished out 2008!

Our New Year is starting out busy, getting back into routines....basketball is back in full swing with practices everynight of the week and 3 to 4 games a week...luckily Lucy loves cheering on her brothers!!  Blake fractured his finger, so a few trips to the Dr. this week has kept us busy, and now he is an "official" member of the "Frequent Fracture Club", this is the 3rd fracture on the same hand, the last was just 6 months ago...

Thanks for checking in on us! Sorry I haven't been checking in quite as frequently on all my bloggy friends...hopefully I can get back to it!!

We celebrated New Year's at home "family style".  We had friends over enjoyed lots of yummy food, played games, and rang in the New Year "loudly" with 7 kids!
