I have been wanting to read the book Snowflower and the Secret Fan, but I decided to start with the authors prior book Peony in love. A friend of mine has two Chinese daughters and she gave me the idea of buying the books in hardcover, and starting a collection for our daughter of books that reflect Chinese culture and history. I loved that idea, and so has begun my collection.
~Another book suggestion is Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress.
I want to read that one - I LOVED Snow FLower - and what a great idea - I buy ANY children's books on China that I can find, but I hadn't thought of adult!!
ReplyDeleteI need to read both of these! Amy (from Nesting For Natalie) recommended them to me and I put it on my "To Do List".
ReplyDeleteI will keep my eyes open for this book.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet that you're collecting books for your daughter.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think of Grey's. I think you're going to LOVE it. Depending on what you pay to rent each DVD, it might be more economical to buy them on Amazon. Some places make you rent 1 disc at a time for $4, and at that point the seasons are around $20-$30. It might be worth it.

Great idea. I'm going to start looking for those.
ReplyDeleteI just tagged you for a meme. It's the first one I've ever done.

GREAT idea and I am "stealing" it!! I think it is a wonderful idea to collect these books for our daughters! Thank you!
ReplyDeletePeony is actually her new book, and I just started it, not too bad so far... Snow Flower was an all time favorite, so be sure to pick that up too!
