The girl on the flying trapeze

Lucy has been attending SANCA (School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts) 

for one year.  We first went there on a field trip while she was 

doing her constraint therapy camp last summer.

She started working with Jo every Saturday for one hour 

and the progress that we have seen is amazing.  

Lucy does everything from tight wire, trampoline, rolling globe

to trapeze.  This past week she attended a summer camp for a week, 3 hours a day.

On the fourth day the kids were told they would get to take a flight on the flying trapeze.

Now, the only trapeze Lucy has been on is 5ft off the ground..this would be the real deal!!

So, they harnessed her up, and she climbed the 30ft+ ladder without a moment 

of hesitation (I was a little freaked out as is obvious by the video :)  Lucy's biggest concern 

was that she would not be able to hold on very long, as her weakend left side would cause her grip to slip.  When she first started doing trapeze she could only hold her left hand grip for no more than 3 seconds or so...as you can see in this video..she has come SO far in her strength.

This little peanut amazes me everyday with her attitude and determination!

She might not be willing to do this every week

but she has done it once, and that's more than I can say for myself :)

Gotcha 5 years Lucy Joy Jingxuan!

it seems like it's

always been this way!

this little lady is a light that never dims

a presence that never fades

lucy loves her gotcha day

she insists that is what it's called

and she requires requests that ever family

member be present that day to celebrate her :)

as with tradition we always let her choose the events of the day

this year it was breakfast out 

monsters university movie

homemade dinner with grammy and papa

our goal for lucy this summer was to learn to ride a bike

bilateral activities can be tricky for her, but i knew she could do it

so, grammy and papa surprised her with a bike

and

we discovered that everything works better in wedges!!

Fashion is my Kryptonite {Talent show}

Lucy and her bff Camryn auditioned for the school talent show.

Camryn had performed the past two years, and this year wanted Lucy to 

join her.

They chose a song about fashion

and struted their stuff on the "cat walk" :)

Since I was behind the scenes helping with costume changes

Blake and Bennett were my videographer and photographer

for the night...they did a great job!

The girls final outfit of the night were these tissue paper skirts that

we made and tissue poms on headbands :)

Each skirt is made with 4- 20sheet packs of tissue paper stapled to elastic and covered

with a sequin trim :)

They were the "ba bam" factor we were going for!

I am so proud of Lucy...she loves making her videos, but they

are always with just me as her audience...so I wasnt sure how

she would do in front of a big audience....

WHO was I kidding???

This girl was IN her element!

 

Happy Birthday to Lucy's BFF Camryn!!

Lucy's friend Camryn celebrated her birthday at 

the American Girl Cafe and store!  Lucy has been to the store, but hadn't eaten 

in the cafe...so what a treat!

Lucy is so teeny tiny...she is the oldest of all these Girls by months!!!

Little Lucy Update!

Thank you for all the sweet emails and comments checking on Lucy♥

The day after my last post, I took Lucy to her pediatrician because she had a cough that

seemed to me more than "throat irritation", which is normal...well, sure enough 

they diagnosed her with Bronchitis..poor girl!

So, we got her on antibiotics, kept up the Tylenol, Motrin, oxycodone regime..and by Thursday night

she was new girl!  The nurses at the hospital kept saying once she got to day 7 things would turn for the better, and then add the antibiotic to the mix...it did the trick!

For the past few days, she has only need ibuprofen in the morning first thing

and that is it!!

It is so great to have our girl back...her happy, cheerful, smiley self

AND

she gets to go back to school tomorrow

and she couldn't be happier!!

Tonsils out...

So, Wednesday was the big day

Lucy got her tonsils and adenoids removed

I snapped this pic with my phone before we 

headed to the hospital!

Here she is, all smiles as usual as she waits...

Lucy asked the nurse if she could see her tonsils when they were out!

They all loved that she asked, and even put together a little "Dr kit" for her to take home.

So...here they are...not as big as we thought they would be :)

she saw this devotion book at the bookstore

and really wanted one of her very own♥

~Day 2~

a rough morning :(

but, by the end of the day she asked if she could help make her 

FAVORITE tomato soup!

She is healing well, and dealing with her sore throat

but she really HATES missing school...it is her favorite!

We are just glad it is all over with!
